This is one of my favorite themes - especially since all ages like the 80;s as a result of movies recreating the music, new bands recreating. giving a new life to the decade of decandence!
Plus 80's has many genres within 80';s electronic, dance, rock, hair band, new wave - we can go through all the genres.
I suggest adding flyers,posters,records- adjust menu to add drink specials & some trivia!

When you are in the planning stages
of an event, consider adding lighting for a WOW factor ! I have found
adding lighting to an event makes such an impact on the ambiance in the
room & getting your crowd in a "party" mood.
In addition to lights to make your dance floor,area,etc come alive - many other options are available. These include table lighting, Up lighting - ceilings,walls,columns,corners, entranceways / monogram /initials on floor,walls / special room lighting IE mirror ball effect , lasers, gobos. Make sure you ask/review options and make an informed decision based on your event type, needs.

Employee Appreciation Events
I find most of these events that are
booked are around the Holiday Season in December. There are many
options to explore like have them during lunch time on a friday
or have it in the afternoon & allow staff to leave after party-
this way you increase your amount of people as this time of year-
everyone is busy with other things ie shopping, family,friends, holidays ect..
or one other nice thing would be to allow (1) guest. Other options can
be have it in November or January, I have done many hotel employee
parties in January since they are busy in December.
The role of
the entertainer can be background music or depending on time of event
dancing or add game show for fun. tons of add-ons can make your employees happy- ie Chocolate Fountain, Photo Booths, Pfunny Photos, Photo Shoot, Giveaways,Glow. It is endless- call me if you need ideas or to book.

The best thing about summer parties
is they are always fun! It is not hard to put together- I usually
book them at a 3 hour block & if at night throw in lighting in the
package- it is not limited to just weekend nights- but you can also have
your party on a weekday/weekend afternoon. Think out of the box ! have
your party either inside or outside. If you want to get creative
-add a theme to the party- tested & easy ones include
hawaiian/beach with pig roast, Clambake.

WOW Factors
What is a WOW factor and how does it apply to my event?
You can either have a good party or a great party!
Add these options to a DJ/Entertainer: Deluxe lighting with moving lights,Intelligent, LED, Gobos, Bubbles (Glow bubbles are now available)how cool is that? also newest is Uplighting, which enhances the room,hall,outdoors etc, adds another element to walls,columns,areas. Photo montages are great to get yourself on the big screen during/after dinner showcasing memories. Music Video/Live Camera this is one of my favs (having grown up in era of videos) how great is this - having music videos mixed with music & shown on screens or plasmas! also adding a live camera feed to capture the excitement on the dancefloor. You can also have messages/thoughts added to be shown on the screens.
Mitzvahs are fun-because it enables both adults & kids to interact, yet have there own space as well. When planning a Mitzvah Celebration, I suggest doing a cocktail hour with kids/adults in separate rooms/areas. This allows adults to mingle,talk,party & consider a piano player for background or a DJ using a separate system from main area. The kids should have a magician, DJ/MC to run some games/contests during this hour or add game show.
Having some other entertainment in the mix is a great idea , it gives people choices during a special event !
Some ideas are : Music Videos, Photo Booths,Wax Hands, Funny Photos, Art,Caricatures, Props, Giveaways.
Whatever your celebration might be, I have a great idea for your entrance !
It is called Low Level Fog-- How does it work? we flood the dance floor / entrance area with fog that hugs the floor. This makes for a dramatic entrance & WOW factor.
Imagine being introduced & the floor is engulfed in a heavy fog that hugs the floor!
Don' t we all want our name in lights? of course! here is an add on to any DJ Package that is a must have!
It is a Gobo light with a custom made lens of your name/initials shown on the dance floor or wall. This is cool when you have a special dance to see your name lit up on the floor, some gobos allow for rotation cool huh? If it is a wedding bride/groom initials projected on the dance floor or walls.
I think it is something that sets you apart from everyone else!
